The Artful Dodger

HARD DODGER:

Has anyone any made a solid dodger for their UFO 34 or any photos of one or know of one ?

Some yachts look OK , some are just not suited so before I re-invent the wheel, I ask the question.

thanks

Richard

When winding a sheet winch my hands often rub on the dodger. I think that a hard dodger would have the skin off my knuckles.

sheet winch or halyard winch ?

I have a frame / cloth dodger and that does impede access to halyard winches, but not the sheet winches - I have also had the zips for the side curtains reversed so they open from aft fwd. this was required as when running the main sheet bore on the curtain and caused the zip to undo from the wrong end and rip the nylon teeth out - now the sheet just opens the zip without damage.
Also have a clear vynal panel that slides into a aluminium bolt rope type extrusion on the companway hatch and rolls down to keep rain from blowing down below when running - saves putting in the solid wash boards and being clear allows light below and just rolls up and is held with velcro as a roll along the hatch back edge.

in a recent English magazine there is a UFO for sale - cannot recall the mag name - has a small red sail boat on the cover :o)bought the mag as it had an item on a self built hard dodger.

happy winter - yesterday here was 35 C plus and today about 18 C & light rain - what living at 42 Deg South means.

Richard
